7 Tips to Stay Stylish in Winter

When it comes to a cold winter day in Chicago, sometimes I don’t want to get out of bed let alone dress up. Looking stylish in the winter can be really difficult, but if you remember and apply these 7 tips, your life will become a heck of a lot easier!

7 Tips to Stay Stylish in Winter1. Accessorize!

Trudging around in snow boots and a parka can get a little bit boring… So add some flare with a fun watch, like my Kate Spade ‘Cheers!’ one, or some statement rings. You might even want to try a headband, scarf, earmuffs, or a trendy hat!

2. Invest in a good coat

In my opinion, a cute coat can go a long way! When it’s below 30 degrees I usually pull out my parka, which has a faux fur lined hood. For other days, I have a pretty mint green coat and a stylish red one, too.

3. Take advantage of seasonal sales

This is my favorite time of year for one reason: sales. They aren’t hard to find, especially after Christmas. But to make it easier, here are a few you might want to take advantage of. The best deals are marked with an asterisk*.

4. Stockpile your sweaters

I never feel like I have enough sweaters when winter rolls around. Thank God I kept this one that I bought two years ago. As long as the sweater is in good physical condition, keep it and wear it. It’s easy to style a sweater with other fun accessories for a unique look!

5. Say Goodbye to Your Standard Denim Jeans or Yoga Pants

I can admit: jeans and yoga pants are amazing on really cold days. But, if your aim is to look fashionable, then just ditch ’em for the day! I’m wearing black jeans with embroidered details and studs. In an upcoming outfit post, I’ll be opting for a slim pink velvet pant. Both pairs keep me warm (tip: add shearling leggings underneath for extra coziness) and stylish all winter long.

6. Borrow a designer handbag

Most women dream of toting a Chanel, Gucci, or Prada bag around on their shoulder. Quit dreaming and make it a reality this winter! You can rent any gorgeous bag from DesignerShare. My favorite has to be the classic quilted Chanel. Talk about stepping your outfit game up a notch!

7. Play with Makeup

I find myself applying makeup the same way every day… Does anyone else do this? Let’s challenge ourselves to switch it up a bit! Use a different color eyeshadow or lipstick. Watch a YouTube video if you have to! Or, see what new hairstyles you can try, too.

The ASOS sale right now is soooo good. I snagged a few pieces last week to update my winter wardrobe. And many (many many) sweaters and some interesting and warm coats are always staples for this time of year when it’s cold but you still wanna have a little bit of fun with your outfits. 🙂

Yes, it is!!! So happy you found some deals!

Definitely agree with investing in a good coat! I like to have some colorful/patterned ones to stand out and some neutral to go with everything.

I’m from Georgia but even I think these tips are great! I especially love the tips about ditching your jeans and yoga pants. I love both of mine dearly but I do have to agree that sometimes you do have to give them up on a cold day. Nice post!
