My Goals and Hopes for 2016

Happy 2016, and with that: another year to get stuff done. I’m always thinking of new ways to further grow my blog and myself as a person. It’s important to reflect on these things, because how can we move forward if we don’t set goals? So, I thought I’d share some of my goals to inspire you all to set some of your own (or set some more). Let me know what your goals are in the comments!

Be authentic – This is one of the most important goals for me this year. The people who inspire me most in life are the ones that are honest and real with others. I appreciate honesty more than anything and although I already see myself as honest, I want to be able to show everyone I meet that I am authentic, genuine, and real.
Be open – This may sound like the last one, but it’s very different in my mind. Being open means that I want to be open to new things and experiences. I always want to accept more opportunities to go to networking events because even though it’s scary to be around so many new (and usually slightly older) people, it’s very worth it. This goal also embodies my want to talk about my blog more openly with others and not be afraid to promote it to my friends or people I have just met.
Stop being so hard on myself – A habit I need to break! Since I was very young I’d stress myself out over making money or being successful. Fact is that I was doing well for myself by the age of eight by selling a website domain and creating my own site. Nonetheless, I’ve always expected more, more, and more from myself. I am especially hard on myself when it comes to fashion, school, and my blog.
Explore fashion photography – I’ve been very interested in exploring this realm for a while now, so I started a new Instagram just for my photography. I’m adding more soon, don’t worry! So, if anyone is interested in having me take their photo (for blogging or other purposes), let me know!
Meet others who look at life creatively – I’d love friends to collaborate with. I want to really be able to connect with others on a more creative level this year. I want to shift my blog to a high-fashion but low budget feel with an artistic twist on outfit photos. (If anyone lives in Chicago, email me!)
Travel anywhere – I caught the travel bug again a few months ago and I’ve been wanting to go somewhere ever since. Lucky for me, my first trip of the new year is to Disney World this week! I haven’t been since I was young, so I am super excited! Other than that, I don’t see other travel plans besides going back to Chicago in my near future, but hopefully, I will be able to go somewhere else later in the year.
De-stress – Exactly what I need this year because I was stressing out over being away from home and school work at the end of 2015. Does anyone have any tips on de-stressing?
Get a feature in an (online) magazine – I’d love to shoot for a small feature on a site like, but anything at all would make me so happy! I love magazines and online publications; they are just so amazingly well done and beautiful!
Connect with you (my readers) better! – One of my biggest goals! It’s so important to me. I explain more about this and some of my other goals for this year and life in general in the video below!

Stay beautiful,

I LOVE your goal of getting into fashion photography…I want to do that too! I uppded my camera game and really want to try doing fashion shots. It takes some getting used to (and some confidence) so have fun good luck and I can't wait to see what you do!

Loved this post, I have some of the same goals, especially traveling. Honestly, these goals have awakened things I want to do that I didn't even realize – like meeting other people who look at life more creatively! I need that in my life – particularly because I always feel like I love seeing the way people view life (and let's be honest, as a result, how people get such great instagram shots because I always seem to be lacking that department).
Great post! I'm tentatively going to Chicago later on in the month – I'll let you know if that trip comes to fruition – maybe we can meet for coffee!
    xoxo, Jamie

Hey, Kelsey! It'll definitely take a lot of confidence on my part but it will be well worth it when I have photos to add to a portfolio! Good luck with your goal as well! 🙂

Hey, Jamie! That's so awesome. Traveling is a huge part of my life even though I don't get to do so often. We should definitely meet up if you come to Chicago and collaborate! 🙂
